UNOFFICIAL GUIDE TO LEGOLAND WINDSOR
Vikings' River Splash
This ride sadly closed in 2023.
Here's some in-ride (POV) video taken in September 2007, a few weeks after opening:

Vikings' River Splash at Legoland Windsor was a large river rapids ride. Approach to the ride was either from the bottom of the park, near the Spinning Spider or the top, near The Beginning. When you entered the enclosed (and mostly covered) queuing area there was around a 30-minute wait time from that point. The ride had a fast throughput of guests.
The loading area was a platform which slowly spins around where you climb aboard a circular boat seating up to 9. You were put on a boat with another party if possible - this speeded the queue up for everyone. The ride then took you through a series of twists and turns, some fast some slow. There are parts of the ride that had water squirting from fixed units. Soon after the start of the ride you passed the water cannon area where other park visitors can get you wet by aiming at you.
Here's some video of boats going past the viewing area, where other Legoland visitors can splash them!:

Along the way you passed a series of Lego models. We reckoned that this was Legoland's best family ride.
This water ride opened in August 2007 after some apparent construction delays. At first the ride was only able to carry 6 passengers per boat but later carried 9.
See our old page New Stuff for 2007 for details, photos and a video of the construction of this ride.
