Raft Racers

This ride closed in 2022 to make way for Minifigure Speedway.

Something very different to the normal theme park fodder. Raft Racers was a fast water chute ride. There were 2 chutes, yellow and blue. You climbed in to an inflatable dinghy at the top of the ride. 2 people could travel in each dinghy and so a total of 4 people could ride at the same time - the front rider sat between the legs of the person behind you.

When Raft Racers was cleared of the previous riders at the bottom, the operator pressed a button which lifted up the platform on which your dinghy was sitting. Soon the boat slipped down on to the chute and you were off on a fast and wet ride. The chutes twisted right and left on the way down. The ride was fast, furious and wet but short.

You did get wet on this ride, even if only from sitting in the wet dinghy.

Raft Racers at Legoland Windsor

Raft Racers was called Extreme Team Challenge until 2013. We always thought the name of this ride was a bit odd. It was not really an extreme ride and there was no teamwork involved either. The name Raft Racers actually seemed like a better fit to us. It was renamed during the Duplo Valley update of 2013.
