UNOFFICIAL GUIDE TO LEGOLAND WINDSOR
New Stuff for 2007
A new area is being built, Land of the Vikings. There are 2 attractions in the new area:
Vikings' River Splash
Vikings' River Splash will be a river rapids ride and the main attraction in the new area. You will be despatched in a round boat seating 9 towards a fantasy Viking land - all made from Lego bricks, of course. Over 60 Viking themed Lego models will be on display.
According to a press release from Legoland: "Land of the Vikings increases Park capacity by around 15% with over 1300 guests braving the Vikings' River Splash ride each hour."
The boats traverse 400m of flumes and the ride features a large red dragon made from Lego named Nidhogg with a 6m wingspan.
Vikings' River Splash will be the wildest and wettest ride in the park and it's costing nearly £5m to develop.
An announcement was made with an opening date of Thursday 9 August 2007 however this has been missed. The following photos/videos were taken the day before on Wednesday 8 August and show there is still quite a bit of work to do.
Some video of the ride still being constructed:

Some video of the ride being tested with empty boats:
Empty boats were being sent round the ride later on during the day. The singing is from people waiting for the Hill Train back to The Beginning.

Update on Tuesday 14 August 2007:
News from Legoland is that the new ride will now be opening on Saturday 18 August. This is another change to the opening date which was originally 9 August (as posted to Annual Pass holders) and then 14 August (as shown on official website).
Update September 2007:
See the Vikings' River Splash page for details of this ride after it opened.
The second new attraction is:
Loki's Labyrinth
A Nordic-themed hedge maze. This was part of Amazing Mazes until the end of the 2006 season.
There was also one other attraction built in summer 2007 that received no pre-launch publicity:
Mole-In-One Golf
Mole-In-One Golf was completed in July 2007. See the Mole-In-One Golf page for details.
